Today's Question: Personal Time With Christ - Do it or Don't Dot It?

This is one of those questions where almost everyone says they have a personal, quiet time with Christ. My thoughts are YEAH RIGHT! My reasoning? Look at the state that the average Christian find themselves in. Rarely is their focus on Christ. Their focus is more or less centered around themselves. How often does someone make decisions based on their own knowledge, feelings or reasoning? How many times does someone keep making the same mistakes and not ever finding joy due to them doing so? How often do you find yourself on Sunday morning putting on the "face" and doing the "meet and greet handshake with your neighbor" routine?

Why the misrepresentation of your relationship with Christ? Are you embarrassed and don't want people to know your normal and struggle? Is your pride and ego so great that as you squeeze your head through the door on Sunday morning, you have fooled yourself into thinking your own abilities are sufficient and have no need for a daily relationship with Christ? Are you searching, seeking and wondering how to draw closer to Christ?

So how to change all this? It's simple. Read your Bible!

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 John 2:14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Do you want to know Christ more? Do you want to stand firm in your walk? Do you want the Word to remain with you at all times? You have to read your Bible. All it takes is a decision on your part and a commitment to read. If people can read the paper in the morning or surf the internet and reads articles about world events, why can't they read the Bible?

If people would do this, could you imagine the effect Christians could have on the world? I think it's time for people to take responsibility for their own walk in Christ instead of bashing each other. If more people, heck if even 5% of Christians would truly live for Christ, the evangelism explosion would be incredible.

Why should you do it? To glorify Him. That's all. Read Romans 15.
